rewatching Buffy after watching What We Do In The Shadows is a different experience. tbh I think I like Guillermo at least in part due to female/queer slayer intertextuality :)

I'm not watching Interview With The Vampire, have never been a Rice fan, but wow they look like they're having fun over there, too. 2022 vampires returning to late 20th c cultural roots ftw, I guess, lol

Buffy still holds up for me. Joss just turned out to be unable to improve based on his insights. If anything, it makes it more interesting, now that it goes in my box with MZB and OSC and other wrongheaded artists, whose wrongheaded passionate creativity compels me

I've been idly waiting for What We Do In The Shadows to stream somewhere here (but not searching too hard, since it's not like I don't have anything else to watch in the meantime!) but your post motivated me to look up the library this time and they do have the DVDs!! So I should be getting my modern vampire media education soon :D

Kudos on rewatching Buffy!! I think I would find the length quite discouraging at the moment, although it's got to be interesting rewatching a couple of decades later with all the differences in perspective that this implies.
