Gordon Gordon Gordon Gordon! He is my Favorite Evil - not sure why, but plotlines that I like seem to follow him. In fact, I really love all the hunters we get in this ep. I love how borderline nuts they are - you really get the sense that this is not a profession for the terribly sane. It's too close to conspiracy theories and vigilantism, and you have to be kind of a freak to dedicate your life to it. You can tell that this is going to be an ongoing plotline, and I love it. As eeptastic as the FBI are, hunters are worse. They have less connection to reality.
Also? I love that the only explicitly Christian figures on this show tend to be raving nutbars. First the Evil!Ghost!Priest killing in the name of god, and now Jesusfreak hunter with his weird Christian pop art and his psycho dedication to what he sees as a holy crusade.
Sam was so fucking CUTE through the entire thing! With the shoe! His little sad voice when he drops it, and falls down, and his little eepface when the motel room catches on fire, and the falling over in curtains. And and and! Did anyone else notice that this ep was bound and determined to hurt Sam in every way possible? It was like an h/c girl's wet dream. Falling and getting beaten up by hunters and getting shot and getting CHOKED. It's possible that I squeaked loudly when the choking happened. Oh show, I love thee true.
Dean. So exasperated and amused and overprotective. Yeah, this is definitely the dynamic that I was wanting.
And I like Bela. She's got this excellent Han Solo vibe working for her, and the accent...
John's storage box BROKE ME. The boys' things, and was that a piano? I wonder if it was Mary's. I love the idea of him locking away his old life, unable to continue living it but not willing to let it burn. I miss John.
I love how funny and how brutal this ep was, all at once. "Hunted" colliding with "Tall Tales," and both getting deeper/harsher/funnier. And more upsetting. And with even more limp!Sam goodness! AND DEAN IS BATMAN, Y'ALL.
