Listened to an audiobook of "Anne of Green Gables" last night in a last-ditch attempt to rid myself of insomnia, which it did not do. But oh.my.god. The amount of gay in that story...dear lord, I had no idea. I think that I miss the femmeslash because the Anne/Gilbert love goes so deep.

But now I have two burning desires: to write Anne/Diana, and to watch the films again. They really are the most perfect adaptation in the world.

Is it strange that I find myself loving Anne even more now than I did as a little girl?

Also, why can I not find the Ruth Robbins Earthsea illustrations anywhere online? You remember, the black and white woodcut-style insets at the beginning of the chapters. Am frustrated. Argh.

Off to reread "Anne."

Femmeslash? Anne of Green Gables? Any particular passage that led you to believe this? I'm honestly curious. Read those books when I was young and visited the Anne of Green Gables house in Prince Edward Island.

Somewhere in Net land is the official web site of that house, and 360 degree interactive views of all the rooms. But it's not the same as going there on a rainy day and sliding all the way down the muddy path into the forest. In fact it is much cleaner. It's kinda like the Sherlock museum in London, which is one of my favorite places on earth -- 221B Baker Street is now all done up with Victorian artifacts. And Sherlock's personal effects, and wax figures, and books, and photos, and it goes on and on. Including a modern volume, the cover of which is inscribed with "Sherlock Holmes in Bed." So much with the dorky fun.

Ah, the alternative universe of love all around! I love it. :-D

This entry was forever ago, but I just started rewatching the Anne movies and I agree, they are like chock full of gay, it's tremendous. Even as they get older though, like when Gil tells Anne that Diana is getting married and Anne basically throws a fit and stuff?

Gaay :)

Do you by any chance have the link to the Anne/Diana story anymore? I've been trawling the internets for fics but haven't been able to find ANYTHING!
