She tingles every time he runs his hand through his hair, self-consciousness rendering him human. Her hands twitch to follow their motions. She wants to brush each strand into place only to mess it all up again with kisses.
She doesn't pity him. And she doesn't want to be his champion. But she wants more than anything to smooth her fingers through his hair and kiss better his small pains. Not to defend or mother him as she does the first years or the children being bullied, but only to kiss him happy and tangle her fingers in his hair.
