Help I have to make a narrative/setting decision and I'm stuck. If I have some twenty-something English kids going to a small art exhibition in Soho in the late 1980s, and I want to have them also go to a park, does it make most sense for me to send them to Regent's Park, Hyde Park or St. James Park? Can either be for lunch in the afternoon or later at night. Nature personification deities are involved, so location/resonance matters.

Either St. James Park or Green Park - they are literaly just down the road from Soho/Piccadilly. If they are Londoners they'd probably go to Green Park as it's less touristy, St. James' is more likely choice for out-of-towners or tourists.

That definitely counts as out-of-towners and quite probably tourists too. (I am English but not a Londoner, though I visit it quite often.)

It depends, are they kinda rural or very young folk who've not been to London before? Than I'd say St. James, otherwise if they are kinda hip and have been a few times before, Green Park. I live in Manchester but go down about once a year or so, and I'd prefer Green Park. It also depends what is gonna happen there - St James is tremendously busy so you are always observed by others.

I too would have gone with St James Park if they were in Soho, unless there was some specific ritual reason for going to one of the others - or just possibly Embankment Gardens. Presumably you would need somewhere larger than a square with a garden in it?

It's small but has the added benefit of a resonably priced cafe which does a very good breakfast! :)
