people who have read TFA tie-in materials: do we get any indications about which of the OT secrets have been told, and to whom? Mostly, I'd like to know a. who knows that Luke and Leia are sibs, and b. who knows that they're the children of Darth Vader. Am attempting fic; need to know these sorts of things, and the film itself is completely silent on both subjects.

In the "Before the Awakening" bit with Poe, Leia says he reminds her of her brother. I definitely get the impression that it's widely known, but everything I've seen is super vague about Vader.

(Tangentially, I just find that it's a kind of weird position we're in now wrt the EU, since I was never in the fandom between movies before. I don't feel it's any more canon than before, but... what if it's telling us secrets.)

Thanks for the info - argh, I don't like all this handwavy open space! I am *so frustrated* by the way TFA doesn't do the base-level work required by derivative/transformative storytelling. The *first thing you have to do* is make decisions about these sorts of things, which then form the constraints within which your plot must be made to fit.

I'm fine with most of it, tbh, but I think it's partly because there's a lot that I don't want nailed down, lol. At least not yet--it's got a much more serialized feel to it than anything except ESB, but I prefer serialized narratives to sequential stand-alone pieces.
