as I've said every time Doctor Who comes up for a Doctor regeneration: if Twelve is female, poc, or disabled or biologically aneurotypical, I will start watching the show. Instantly, no matter what else. But until that happens, as a viewer, I'm not likely to be interested.

Iris Elba; Helen Mirren; Angel Coulby; Jessica Brown-Findlay. Just saying.

I liked Doctor Who, but had to stop. I'd start watching again for these reasons. (Not for any others I can think of.)

I mentally sub in Alexander Siddig for David Tennant every time I read RTD-era Who fic.

My urge to punch Ten in the face every time he does the Woe I am the Lonely God thing is greatly reduced when it's Dr. Bashir's face.

I've seen reasonable arguments for the Doctor staying male (mostly that there are already canonical female Time Lords who are pretty significant characters in Classic Who, so they should just undo the time lock on Gallifrey and bring Romana back instead), but there's no logical reason why he has to be an able-bodied white male every single regeneration. His gender's stayed consistant across regenerations, but his appearance and other physical attributes certainly haven't.

(If they do make Twelve a woman, they should bring back Romana anyway and then have River Song date/marry all the Time Ladies, ALL of them)
