Y'all I am posting this from my new kindle fire my parents got me a kindle for my birthday and now I will never be parted from the Internet again it and I will be one at last!!!1!
I don't quite know yet - I'm waaaaay behind the curve on touchscreen tech, so at this point I'm just jazzing about being able to take Project Gutenberg etexts to class with me. I feel like there was something about proprietary formats - it has clearly-marked download tabs, but I think they might be limited to stuff bought from Amazon, idk.
Do you follow any ebook comms on DW? The one I follow has been helpful at times just for info but I haven't delved deep because I still mostly rely on print books or Adobe on PC.
The Kindle reads .mobi files, which Gutenberg usually has available. I think it can also do plain text files, but generally the ebook formats are more readable.
I think it's a proprietary format but it's pretty easy to convert TO .mobi (converting the other way is a little harder).
