I hate the term "binge watch," it's too close to being an eating disorder trigger and it reminds me in a bad way of when I was a little girl who was so in love with stories that I read so fast and my father accused me of skimming my books.

Becoming intensely involved with a story and wanting to encounter it entirely, with no reservations, no breaks, isn't a behavior that I associate with the "slow death" (tm Lauren Berlant) behavior of binging, anyway.

that's MUCH better - in fact, it has the reverse implication, doesn't it? Massive interaction with narrative as a feat of endurance and strength, rather than as a form of passive self-harm or abdication of consciousness.

Yup, exactly. Especially when stacking episodes of an intense show, like Breaking Bad. I felt like I went through the wringer, catching up four, five episodes at a time. I'd like to catch up with Game of Thrones, but damn. I'll have to pace myself with that.
