So one of the things I'm finding that I need to do, post-breakup, is rebuild networks of connection. I was very - wrapped around him, is as good a way of putting it as any. (Why it took me so long to give up: it should have been perfect. It should have fit. Anyway.) I'm lonely for people to yap at about fannish stuff! Not formally, as here, but just casual bibble. I've also lost my beta, which is difficult and sadmaking, so I sort of want to work on finding people to write with. Where does this kind of thing take place, anymore? IRC? AIM? Gchat? Gplus? I'm way behind the social media tech curve on this. Where do y'all hang out, apart from here, and how do I get there?

This feels embarrassingly naked, but. Is anyone up for a look at a brace of Tortall/Immortals Quartet ficlets?

I don't know what people do either so I am watching this with great interest. In the meantime, I share with you a childhood OTP of Daine & Numair (and recently reread those books and found them oddly short and elliptical – I must have made do with much less, at that age, in a sort of miles per gallon of emotional investment), so I would be happy to look at anything that only requires Wild Magic canon (I don't remember the Alanna books very well, though I do have them somewhere, I think).

I know what you mean about mileage - but when Tortall is good, it still gets me there harder and faster than anything else. It's just not always good :)

Hmmm...Tumblr might be a fun place for you to browse and see if anyone shares your fandom, assuming you feel strong enough to resist the black hole that is Tumblr. (I call it "my new unpaying career," if that's any indication.)

I have been sideeyeing tumblr - it looks like fun, maybe, but I don't find their interface terribly conducive to, like, anything. Maybe I will get on that thing, tho.

gchat! I have a group of friends on gmail, and we mostly chat there; a lot of the time, we brainstorm each other's fics there, beta them either in chat or googledocs, and hold writing sessions when we have the time. Sometimes it's group chats, but we're mostly on different continents, so often it's just two at a time. We mostly do Austen-y stuff with some HP, but they've put up with SW from me and if you wanted to drop a line, I'm sure you'd be welcome. (That...sounds more formal than it is. We do not have a virtual writing workshop, it's just hanging out and writing.)

Anyway! The Immortals is my favourite Tortall series (I'm not in the fandom and haven't read it in awhile, but I have them on my shelf, so I could amend that) and I...tend to be constantly late, but I'd love to look at them.
