I think this one might be up to a ymmv - as a reader/writer, I don't have a lot of problems with adultery. It doesn't read as partner betrayal to me, esp. when there's some sort of extenuating circumstance.
Fidelity is not a big deal to me in my personal life. Secrecy and sneaking upset me, but I have a very poly/open mindset when it comes to longterm sexual partnerships. It's not Daniel's fault that he and Sha're are not together, and if they could be he'd go to her, but since they can't I got no trouble with him finding solace or happiness elsewhere.
