I've been resetting my brain over the summer; I learned as a kid how to take sides between witch-girls and Pendragon kings. I have a huge soft spot for Arthur - always have - but I'll still always side with the witches.

The smirks were, as others have noted, really egregious - but I was amazed at how easy it was for me to be on Morgan's side against Merlin. She's so unbelievably gorgeous when she's poewrful, and now that she's awake she's getting shit done. (Gwen makes me sad, but ... I don't see any other way.)

And between Morgan's bamf-tasticness and the fact that Morgause alone of all the people on this show actually told someone off for hurting Morgana - and the fact that Cenred is a hunka hunka burning something or other - yeah, pretty much Team Evil here all the way.

(How creepy is it that they gave Uther the child-drowning story? Though at least they weren't all rounded up and put on a boat; somehow the boat makes it all so much skreepier.)

Also. Somehow Arthur swordfighting while blindfolded is sexier than Arthur with his shirt off. Am not sure what this says about me, though in truth do not really care, as long as Arthur continues to be pretty and sweet and noble and the pawn of the entire universe. One of these days someone is going to tell baby a bit of truth, and I have no idea what will happen.

Just finished watching the episode. If I gave the writers that much credit, I'd be impressed about subverting the story into making the audience root for the traditional "bad guys." As it is, I think this is mostly an unintended result. I believe Morgause to be the most competent character on the show. (I'm sure that the "by the way, we're related" conversation with Morgana during the missing year was amazingly awkward.) And Morgana's evil grins might be overused, but my god she looks gorgeous while doing it. I do miss the scenes between her and Gwen that we used to have.

I have the disturbing thought that Arthur still won't know about Merlin by the end of the season. My current theory is that he suspects but is in denial in order to continue being his father's son.

Giant scorpions? Seriously?

Forgot to agree that, yes, Arthur swordfighting while blindfolded was sexy.
