...I just realized that Emerson Spartz runs Mugglenet.*Emerson Spartz.* The eldest son of a guy that my dad used to race sailboats with who was, I think, involved in selling computers in some way. The one who hung out at my place for a couple of family vacations back in the day. He was into HP back then, I remember now. I don't think I'd ever heard him given his surname before, otherwise I would have cottoned on a bit sooner.
