It's a film coming out at some point - there's also the confusingly-similar Avatar: The Last Airbender, which I have never watched, but is apparently made of awesome as an anime and sure to be filled with fail as a live-action motion picture sometime in the near future.

I kind of wish I had swallowed my tongue, in an escaping-from-Vogon-poetry kind of way. Then I wouldn't have to hear any more about this failfest.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is actually not an anime, but a show aired by Nick that drew mostly from East and South Asian cultures. The cartoon is three seasons long and kickass (though I haven't seen the last season yet!).

They did "colorblind casting" for the movie, and fandom is ANGRY.

But these are two very different, similarly-named things.
