*perks up like a bloodhound at The Ordinary Princess* Is yuletide typically hard to do? It sounds better every year since I've heard about it.

*blinks* You're kidding. You, of all people, don't do Yuletide? But honey, it's our show. Yuletide is pretty much the only time of the year that I feel like fannish mainstream. It's all obscure kidlit and fairy tales and Henson movies and the dorky movies we used to watch at slumber parties!

Yuletide is actually really easy - this will be my fourth year, and I really don't do challenges. You offer to write in three different fandoms, ask for three, the magic Yuletide script matches you with somebody, and you write them a 1000 story. The only requirement is fandom and characters, so it's not as hard as writing to a prompt. And you get the better part of two months to write, so finishing is really pretty easy.

Because, I mean. In three years of the Yuletide game, I've written Sleepy Hollow, The Dark is Rising, and Castle in the Sky; I've received fic for Earthsea, Anne of Green Gables, and The Ruby in the Smoke. You don't come across these fandoms every day!

In conclusion: dooo eeet!

I posted the earlier comment before going to class tonight. It was a computer class and I spent most of the time reading the FAQ and nominations list on the yuletide site. I think I must do this!

Who says peer pressure isn't effective once we're grown? :)

From reading the website, my current understanding is that at the moment people can nominate what fandoms they'd like to be included in this year's list. After that's over, we can sign up for the ones we want to receive and the ones we're willing to write for. Yes? (I have begun to check out their LJ communities.)

Yep, that's what's going on :) Nominations aren't something you have to do, but they are fun. Signups will prolly be in at the end of the month, and they'll be open for a couple weeks.

I keep nominating/requesting it - it hasn't happened yet, but maybe this year ...
