What are we holding on to? I don't rightly know. I'm holding on to the only bit of light I've seen in these parts-you. I won't let that light go out, not if I have to fight the Dark Lord himself to keep him from blowin' it out. And every morning I wake up to see that light…well, it's all worth it for that. I love you, Mr. Frodo, and I'll always hang on to that. I don't know what you need to hold on to, but I'm right here, and you can hold on to me if you like.

Oh, this is terrific. Great Sam voice, great riff on that movie line. If only Sam had said this rather than what he did say; personally I find this much more inspiring.

Thank you! Every time I see the film I expect this instead of the line which actually follows. I see this as much more indicative of what the story's about--love and friendship triumphing over all.
