lotesseThe Michigan House just passed a bill that allows pharmacists to refuse service to customers based on ethical objections. At the moment, that means that they can choose not to give me my bloody birth control, which is pretty scary in and of itself, because that choice? Not one that they should get to make. But worse is this: while the bill protects customers from racial discrimination, there's nothing about sexual. So that means that pharmacists in Michigan are looking at being able to stop homosexuals from buying medication.
And who's going to enfore the anti-discrimination clauses? It would be easy to work around. Refuse the colored girls birth control but dispense it to the caucasians. Fake your reasons well enough and you could enforce your own moral values on anyone you like by refusing to sell them painkillers or fever-reducers. They only meant this to be about controlling women's reproductive systems, but they've got themselves a hell of a lot more than that.
God. This is unbelievable. And the MI Senate is waaaay Republican. We don't stand a chance.
