feminist poetry
May. 8th, 2006 12:09 pmThe campus Take Back the Night rally was Saturday night. And I fell in love with another poet. Our keynote speaker was spoken word poet Alix Olson, and oh my god, this woman is amazing. Beautiful. It felt surprisingly good, surprisingly important, to hear an adult stand up and say the things that we say all the time. It was something that I didn't know I needed, but when it happened I felt like crying.
Her website is www.alixolson.com, and several recordings of her work are available for download. Listen to this woman, her work is utterly amazing.

I would that all my age-peers spoke up, but that they do not, I'm grateful to Alix for reaching out to you.

I've got http://www.smithsonianglobalsound.org/searchresults.aspx?sPhrase=rainbow%20quest&sType=all and can upload those for you if you like... since I see you like Mr. Seeger as well.
