The world feels very narrow today. I haven't been paid for work since the solstice, and things have gotten very bare bones ... I'd hoped to get my direct deposit by the 3rd this month, and so manage to pay rent/student loan on time ... still have not been paid, hoping there's nothing wrong.

Time telescopes oddly when you work without pay.

I sent an email in today. I was paid early for the first part of Dec, so some of the drought was visible ahead of time, but it's a long way to make it through -- and it turns out there were payroll issues this time around. Am promised tomorrow or next day. Still don't think it's fair employers can delay paying us b/c of holidays or whatever, but bills n rent always gotta be paid on time no matter what :(

Really? Gah. I don't know that I've had an adult job where there weren't payroll shenanigans. One of the companies I freelance for needs an email a month after invoice, sometimes, to remember to pay me at all! Holiday oddness is almost an expectation.

Sometimes bills and rent gotta be paid early because holidays!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that here, when we get paid early because Christmas we get the entire December pay packet around the solstice (plus Christmas bonus). Which I guess makes sense - I've never been on a monthly salary before, in Aus even most office jobs are fortnightly.

I hope they sort out the payroll stuff asap.

Even for freelance work, that's outrageous! I put a NET 30 on my bills and send them dunning emails if they are late at all. Sometimes they don't even realize it -- and they should not make you bear the brunt of it.
