state of the me

I was married on Monday! Had a lot of fun. The ceremony was in the front lobby of the old grade school where D. and I were friends as children. My Rabbi-next-store sang us a beautiful, beautiful ritual; and there were these multiple fantastic heavy dumps of rain that came at perfectly-timed moments of heightened intensity; the last gasps of the hurricane as it blew itself out into the north. A friend took us for an old-fashioned getaway ride in his '54 , with a "just married" sign and rattling cans, through the downtown. The clouds had all cleared by the afternoon, when the party headed out to the dunes and the National Lakeshore, and then we had the most lovely dreamy gibbous moonrise before the wind came up again and blew us all home.
D. wore a kilt. We are both hyphenating surnames.
Also, I'm moving next week! Just arranged to pick up packing boxes from the party store down the way. It's going to be such a good change, from the funny apartment-camping we've been doing in my little place in the sticks to the whole lower part of a house in town. In-home laundry for me for the first time since high school, hurrah!
I am well, a little emotionally exhausted. Distressed by the hurricanes and the DACA repeal; sad and afraid for the world. Also wanting to hide a bit; that was a lot of being open in front of people and frankly it feels like time to go down the hole. Not too bad, though. We're watching ATLA, which is always helpful, and I think things will stabilize muchly after the move.
