I didn't really feel like the second season was any worse than the first, and consider them both to be entertaining pap, and weirdly nostalgic for the sort of period TV they used to make. And I constantly wonder why nobody's mentioning how enormously derivative it is. The recycled plots and cliche set-ups - along with the servants' acceptance of their inferior position - is the thing that I most have to work to ignore to enjoy the rest of it.
