Still don't have a computer of my own, which is irritating, as I want to make icons. Of course, since I don't have photoshop a lot of this is going to have to be done in the computer lab anyway. Is it bad that I'm planning on doing that in the dead of night? I just got here. I don't have to shout the geek from the rooftops of the world just yet.

Does anyone know of a downloadable program that has iconing basics--color adjustment, text-adding, cropping, framing? I don't need anything nearly as sexy as Adobe CS, not for the level of the iconning that I do.

I've got about forty new icons (LotR, Narnia, Brothers Grimm, Trina Hyman, et alia) on my hard drive, and I can't upload any of them until Mon. when I will hopefully be hooked up to the goddamned network.

The New Roomie has a t.v., which is facillitating my Jon Stewart habit and making me very happy. Love to the New Roomie.

Did a rain dance on the quad yesterday.

What was that about shouting the geek from the rooftops of the world again?

I've heard good things about GIMP; it's a free graphics program that apparently can do nearly everything that Photoshop can. Though I've never used it myself, I know some people who've gotten good results from it, and I'm pretty sure it can do everything that you're looking for :)

I think so; though I don't know an awful lot about Macs, so I'm not able to make out if that page is full of very easy instructions, or very complex ones. *g*
