To those of you who may know your Plato better than I do--

I need a passage. The one that deals with the relationship of beauty to the Good. I'm writing about fairy tales, you see, and their anxieties and investments in the reading of outside beauty as a signifier of inner worth. And I need that bi of the Republic, but I can't remember where it is. Anyone know?

eta: I'm genuinely sniffly about he news of Heath Ledger's passing. 10 Things I Hate About You was our seminal sleepover movie when I was a kid, and we sat through The Patriot on my thirteenth birthday just for him. I always admired him - even working with fluffy material he delivered wonderful performances, and his work on the meatier roles he'd started getting was breathtaking. Batman's going to be a strange sort of eulogy, and I'm sad that Terry Gilliam's Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus has lost him as its star. rip Heath.
