Well, I think I maybe have an apartment for the fall. I have the application for one in, anyway, and I don't think I've committed any secret amnesiac felonies. Eep. It's pretty nice, though I think I'm going to have to put some bamboo matting over the plain-yogurt carpet. Pretty big, within our price range, bikeable, not too far from the big central bus hub. Bathtub, but no dishwasher. Oh well - I've washed plenty of dishes before.

I'm so tired - we spent all day driving around appointmenting and calling and emailing and ugh. And it really reminded me how many hidden costs there are in even workingclass accomodation - it cost us fifty dollars for the applications! not to mention deposits, pet deposits, lease fees. Lawd a mercy.

Anyway. At least that's over, and I can stop freaking about it.

You hit the nail on the head about the hidden costs. The most obvious ones might be "What utilities aren't included in the rent?" but those application fees really add up. I spent about $80 split up among three apartment applications; how ridiculous! I hope the apartment works out well.

I do too, if only because I really don't want to start looking again! But it makes you realize how totally stacked the deck is!
