I'm so ready for this election to be over. I know that we have it, but I'm ready to be sure. I finally got my absentee ballot in - my father's very active in local politics, and my family's experienced some fairly major retaliation before now, so I've been pretty paranoid about the fact that I'm dependent on a county clerk who will recognize my surname to not disenfranchise me.

I don't think I'll really be able to believe in change until it happens. I was fourteen during the Gore-Bush election in 2000, and my entire adult political life has centered around hating the administration and being deeply afraid of my leaders. It'll be different not hating the President. I can't remember ever having not done that before.

But with the Ashley Todd story coming out as faked, and with everything that's been said at McCainPalin rallies - with the assiduous work they've been doing to stir up all the race hatred in the damn country, I'm deeply afraid. I feel like things could get very bad very quickly. Ashley Todd is a damned liar and a fool for playing with fire during a drought, and every Republican ratfucker who jumped on the story of her "assault" - I just hope that no conflagration comes of this. I'm so very afraid that it will.

And Sarah Palin's a dope for going along with the Barbie thing. She let them tie her entire worth to her sparkly exterior, and now that her image's getting peeled back, she's realizing the peril of not having anything else. This is why Clinton always wore those pantsuits - so that people would see her, not her clothes.

in fannish news, I'm really impressed with the fact that "Yellow Fever" didn't set off my humiliation squick. It's utterly adorable that they can make a fool out of Dean and it doesn't matter because Sam loves him anyway and he knows it. Enjoyed laughing at Dean, got off embarrassingly hard on the Evil!Sammeh, and was wildly skeeved by the ghost-dragging. Hate-crime-alicious, Kripke. And nobody - not even Bobby! - even addressed the level of badwrong inherent in reenacting an already-unjust torture of an innocent victim.

Remember when Sam and Dean did research? I bet they're glad they ordered the Exposition Bot, Be-Hatted Mechanic Edition. Bobby, I heart you, but you make my boys get so very dumb.

I miss emo!Sam. They're either deliberately playing him as PTSD/closed off, or they got bored with his earlier characterization. It is kind of frustrating me, because Sam is my pet character, and I feel like he keeps losing the aspects that made me love him in the first place. But then again, he just keeps getting prettier, so!
