read Ursula Le Guin's Lavinia today; wept so hard when it ended that I scared myself a little. From -- fulfillment? I don't remember such things hitting me so hard when I used to read all the time as a teenager. Or did I have less fear of that intensity back then?

Ohh, I love Lavinia! <3 I definitely have much stronger emotional reactions to books now than I did as a younger person -- both negative and positive. I think I'm much more in touch with the impact books have on me.

That was A BOOK though! I ... don't remember much about the details, just the emotional force of it.

Oh that's wonderful to hear! It's one of the few Le Guins I haven't read yet and I've just put it on hold.
