You know what's irritating? I'm putting together a proposal for a section of Freshman Comp thematically centered around SFF and cultural studies - and all the good essays that come to my mind first are bits of fannish meta. Wargh. How are you all so much smarter than everybody else?!(Actually, I have really good feminist essays, but since I tend to get much of my chromatic theory/information in fanspaces I have far fewer citable sources for that, and I do want to balance the subject matter of the course.)

I can't remember if you know altariel? Awesome writer of both fan- and profic and also awesome teacher who has been posting about her SF course, so she'd be a great resource.

I'm doing a similar thing for Utopian/dystopian lit.; good luck!

Some of my classes have been struggling with the concept of antihero lately; today I'm treating them to "Jaynestown." I love it when fandom is academically appropriate. :D

Speaking of fannish meta, I have a friend who needs to find meta/semi-scholarly articles/blog posts/etc about fanfiction. I used to have many of these, but all my bookmarks died with the old laptop.

Help?

Thank you! Will pass on the links.

If you think of anything else by fandom about fandom that I could pass on (or anywhere/anyone else I should ask), please let me know!
