Hi! I think you're absolutely right that the novel's pov can be tricksy; Jane tends to, ah, underestimate herself and her powers rather dramatically! But the thing I love best about JE is that it's pretty much the story of how the Gothic tried to eat plain little Jane Eyre, and how she found out that she was actually its queen and sovereign. (there's a reason for the Labyrinth icon, in other words!)

I'm not familiar with the Stewart book - is that the same Mary Stewart who wrote all the King Arthur stuff? Because I remember really enjoying that as a kid.
